Grounding... have you heard of it? Have you tried it?
Over the last year, I've been learning that some of the most powerful things we can do for our health don't come in a bottle—they're found in nature.
One of those things is grounding, also called earthing.
The idea is simple: take off your shoes and spend a few minutes walking barefoot on grass, dirt, sand, or even in the water.
Some research suggests that direct contact with the earth may help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation while supporting your body's natural rhythms. Many people also report feeling calmer, sleeping better, experiencing less pain, and having more energy after making grounding a regular habit.
Potential benefits of grounding:
• May help reduce stress and tension
• May support better sleep
• May help reduce inflammation
• May improve mood and energy
• May support your body's natural circadian rhythm
One thing I love is pairing grounding with early morning sunshine. Morning sunlight helps signal to your brain that it's time to wake up, supporting a healthy circadian rhythm. Then, if you can, spend a few minutes outside again during sunset. The warm reds and oranges of the evening light help your body recognize that it's time to wind down and begin producing melatonin for sleep.
Sometimes wellness doesn't have to be complicated.
It can be as simple as...
Watching the sunrise.
Taking off your shoes.
Standing in the grass.
Walking along the beach.
Taking a deep breath.
Have I found grounding to be a miracle cure? No. But I do believe that slowing down, getting outside, and reconnecting with God's creation is good for both my body and my soul.
Have you ever tried grounding? I'd love to hear your experience.
