Long Days, Full Calendar, and Grateful Hearts

Long Days, Full Calendar, and Grateful Hearts

Long Days, Full Calendars, and Grateful Hearts

Some weekends leave you feeling rested and ready for a new week.

And then there are weekends like this one. 😂

The kind where you spend more time in the car than at home, your feet hurt, your laundry piles up, and you wonder how in the world you're going to get everything done before Monday morning.

But you know what?

I'm thankful.

We had a couple of incredibly long, busy days, but they were filled with some pretty special moments. And I was reminded again how blessed I am that we get to work alongside one another, doing things we love while helping support our family.

A Simple Wedding Is Still Something Special

Thursday I made a bridal bouquet and boutonniere for a simple courthouse wedding.

Just beautiful white roses. Nothing elaborate or extravagant.

But I've always believed that simple doesn't mean less special.

Not every bride wants or needs a huge wedding with hundreds of guests and thousands of dollars in flowers. Some couples choose a quiet ceremony, and that doesn't make their wedding day any less meaningful.

Every bride deserves to feel beautiful and celebrated.

And if a simple white rose bouquet helps make her feel special on one of the most important days of her life, then I'm honored to be a small part of it.

Birthday Flowers and Last-Minute Requests

Friday was another flower-filled day!

I worked on centerpieces for a special 13th birthday celebration. We used flowers filled with beauty and meaning, and I loved how they came together.

I also helped another family who needed flowers at the last minute for a birthday party.

They wanted to do the arranging themselves, so I simply provided the flowers.

And that's perfectly fine with me!

Not everyone needs a florist to design everything. Sometimes they just need someone who can help them find the flowers they're looking for.

If we can help make someone's celebration a little easier, we're happy to do it.

Saturday — Lots of Miles and Lots of Smiles

Saturday started early.

I delivered the birthday centerpieces, came home, loaded up the car, gathered the girls and Bryce, and off we went!

Our first stop was San Bernardino for an Inclusion Fall Fair, a special community event for children with special needs.

We were honored to be there with Happy Faces, offering face painting, balloons, and a welcoming, safe space for the kiddos who wanted to participate.

Events like this mean so much to us.

Every child is different. Some are excited and ready to jump right into the chair. Others need a little extra time, patience, or encouragement.

And that's okay.

Our goal isn't just to paint faces or twist balloons. It's to make children feel comfortable, included, and special.

I'm thankful we had the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful event.

But our day wasn't over!

From San Bernardino, we drove another 90 minutes into Los Angeles for an 8-year-old's birthday party.

Now, LA isn't exactly our usual service area, and I'll admit we had some reservations about taking the booking.

But we also believe that every child deserves to have a special birthday celebration, and if face painting and balloons are what they want, we love being able to provide that.

So we said yes.

And I'm SO glad we did!

The children were incredibly polite, appreciative, and excited to have the girls there.

Sometimes you take a chance on something outside your normal routine, and it ends up being one of the sweetest parts of your day.

This was one of those times.

We headed home tired, but grateful.

And Then Comes Sunday...

You would think after a weekend like that, Sunday would be a day to rest.

Wouldn't that be nice? 😂

Instead, today is catch-up day.

The laundry needs to be done. The kitchen and bathrooms need a good deep cleaning. I need to prep dinners for the week and make some quick breakfasts for myself because my early work mornings are not getting any easier.

I have lesson plans to prepare for tutoring, emails to answer, Happy Faces bookings to follow up on, and blog and social media posts that I'd really like to get ahead on.

And somewhere in there, I should probably sit down for a few minutes!

The funny thing is, I know this coming week is going to be even busier.

But that's life right now.

Finding Gratitude in the Middle of the Chaos

I know I've shared a little about the changes our family has experienced over the past several months.

Things haven't exactly gone according to plan.

We've had to adjust, make difficult decisions, take on more work, and figure out how to keep moving forward.

And while I certainly wouldn't say it's been easy, I can say that I've seen blessings in places I didn't necessarily expect to find them.

We've all found ways to contribute financially and help keep a roof over our heads.

We've found opportunities to use the talents and skills God has given us.

We've met wonderful people, celebrated special occasions with families, and hopefully brought a little joy into the lives of others.

And one of the greatest blessings?

So much of this work is something we get to do together.

We work together. We drive together. We laugh together. We get tired together. And sometimes we probably get on each other's nerves a little, too. 😂

But we're doing it together.

There are definitely moments when I wish life would slow down. When I wish the bills weren't quite so demanding, the schedule wasn't so full, and there were a few more hours in the day.

But I also know that this season won't last forever.

And I don't want to be so focused on how tired I am or how much I still have to do that I miss the good things happening right in front of me.

The beautiful flowers.

The smiling children.

The families who trust us to be part of their celebrations.

The opportunity to work.

And the blessing of having my family right beside me.

Life can be hard and beautiful at the same time.

I'm learning that gratitude doesn't mean everything is going perfectly. It means recognizing the blessings even when things are difficult.

So tonight, I'll probably still have a load of laundry waiting to be folded, a few things left on my to-do list, and another busy Monday morning ahead.

But I'll also have a grateful heart.

Because once again, through the long days, the unexpected opportunities, and the everyday chaos...

Grace carried me here. ❤️
